We stumbled upon this charming and unique café near the market square and decided to stop in for a late afternoon cup of tea and a snack. Seated at the front of the restaurant, we were attended to by a couple of elderly individuals whom we presumed to be the owners. Two of us opted for the Evesham cream tea, which proved to be a bit odd. The scones appeared to be on the stale side and crumbled easily when cut into. However, when piled with whipped cream and strawberry jam, they were still enjoyable. The tea was served in unappealing stainless steel pots that tended to drip when poured - a stark contrast to the lovely decorative tea pots on display throughout the establishment. Before leaving, I ventured up a steep set of stairs to the restroom on the first floor, which was passable but not easily accessible for elderly patrons. Overall, our experience was a bit peculiar, as noted by other reviewers, almost like stepping back in time.
Local café for local people. Like a time capsule of mmmm 1960 's menu and service. Think wow filter coffee is a great idea isn 't it. Decor and service has not moved on, and service was on the grumpy, what! You want more salad than 2 slice tomatoe and two slices of cucumber with your baked potato who would of thought of lettuce with that meal option. And then cash only payment. I suppose bad but good just for the trip back in time.
Popped in here on Weds dinner time for a drink and a snack found the place inside to be dark and dngey the latte was probally one of the worst weve had on the plus side the sausage and egg bap was very nice ,but didnt even get offered Jam or Marmalade with the toast on the whole very disappointing.
We had a lunch here when on a shopping trip to Evesham and I was really surprised to read some of the reviews on here when we got home. The panini was one of the best that my husband and had and my spinach and mozzarella quiche was clearly home made with lots of filling and salad on the side. The service was really friendly too. Would much rather support a local business than the chains. We sat outside in the square and it would have benefitted from a bit of a tidy but, having said that, the rest of the square was no different. Would certainly stop by again when in Evesham.
