After reading the recent Google reviews, we decided to try this restaurant. BIG MISTAKE! If this is the average quality of Chinese takeaways served outside of the cities where the food is authentic, then I would rather cook my own or go to M&S! We spent £35 on food that was not worth it. It was awful, so don't waste your money.
The restaurant was excellent in 2016 but has declined in quality over the past five years. It received a hygiene rating of 0 at some point, but my husband still enjoys it. However, I find that the food is too greasy, especially the chow mein which is swimming in oil. The Singapore-style dishes are supposed to be dry, but they are drenched in oil. My husband enjoys the curries, but I find them tasteless. Overall, I have not had a good experience at this restaurant lately.
Just had takeaway king prawn kung po. Absolutely rubbish. Just prawns and odds and ends dyed deep red. Hopefully I'm not going to be sick later. Complete waste of money. Throwing most into the canal.
I have used the China Chef 3 times in the last month and can have no complaints. The food was served quickly and hot. Last night, rang at 8 for a delivery and was told it would be an hour but it arrived 20 minutes sooner which was great.
