Paying £15 for a sandwich made with store-bought bread ("fresh from the shop that morning") and £8 for eggs on toast, with no homemade cakes available, was disappointing. The staff, however, were pleasant and accommodating, which made the experience more enjoyable. Overall, the value for money was lacking.
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant for an afternoon tea. The spread included sandwiches, scones, cakes, and tea, and we were pleasantly surprised when they offered us boxes to take home the leftovers. The service was fantastic and the price was very reasonable. We will definitely be returning in the future.
The size of the coffee cups appears to be shrinking, but the prices are still increasing. A regular cappuccino is now £3.80!
The Windlass is a truly beautiful Cafe! Lovely food, piping hot, and generous portions! The staff are both friendly and accommodating. We were going to take a picture of the food but it looked too good to pause to take a photo so we dug straight in and weren’t disappointed in the slightest. I would recommend anyone to come here to try their fantastic menu choices!
Extremely disappointing as they advertise they are a ‘dog friendly cafe’ however you aren’t allowed to go into their courtyard with your dog, you have to sit on the front very close to the road with cars driving past. Such a shame, won’t be returning for this reason. When I asked about this I was told the dogs can’t come inside and because you have to walk inside to go out to the courtyard you can’t go in the courtyard. I said I will carry my dog through to which I was still told no!
