Old and elegant place. Proximity to beach. Good spread of breakfast. Tastes are bit flat, may be to suit foreigners and other state visitors. Very heavy crockery. Courteous staff.
I had dinner at Dakshin during a recent business trip to Vizag. True to it's name, the menu was a collection of South Indian dishes with descriptions to assist those not familiar with the cuisine. The ambience was excellent with live Karnatic music and comfortable seating. Since I was not familiar with the menu, I asked the manager for his recommendation and he was extremely helpful. We started with Rasam and it was extremely tasty with a perfect balance of heat and tanginess. The next course was spicy morsels of chicken. Although the dish was very sumptuous, some of the pieces were extremely spicy. When we mentioned this to the manager, the chef personally came out and offered to make us another batch (excellent customer service). This was followed by a creamy mutton curry and a few dosas in all sorts of wonderful shapes. We ended the meal with kulfi. Overall, the food was amazing and the ambience and music complimented the food. What I found most impressive was that it stayed true to it's roots and provided an authentic South Indian dining experience. Would definitely recommend it if you're visiting Vishakhapatnam.

Been here long back with my family. The food is served in silver utensils. Tried fish curry which is awesome. Chicken biryani is authentic and good in taste. Excellent ambience and full marks for cleanliness. A must visit restaurant.
