My husband ordered the haddock with lobster cream sauce, and both the main dish and the accompanying vegetables and fries were bursting with flavor. As for my scallops, they were the best I've ever tasted.
The service was excellent, but the food was disappointing. I ordered the calamari and the blackened haddock fish platter. While the presentation was appealing, the dishes lacked any flavor—completely bland with no seasoning. I did enjoy my cocktail, and the wait staff were pleasant, but unfortunately, the food didn't meet my expectations.
I decided to try the fried clams and chips, which were a remarkable culinary delight. Each clam was perfectly cooked and seasoned, resulting in a medley of flavors and textures that danced on my taste buds. The breathtaking waterfront view only added to the enjoyment of the meal. While every bite confirmed the restaurant's high standards, I found myself wanting just a bit more, though this was a minor issue compared to the overall dining experience. In summary, Rudder's Seafood Restaurant and Brew Pub is a sensory journey celebrating the delights of seafood and the joy of good company. Even though a larger portion would have been a nice touch, it in no way takes away from this culinary gem. My visit to Rudder's embodies the essence of seaside dining; from the breathtaking harbor view to the attentive staff and the deliciously crafted dishes, everything shines with excellence. I give it a definite five-star rating and look forward to returning to this wonderful waterfront eatery, where culinary dreams come to life.
Not impressed at all! Was told this was a great place to eat so we decided to drop by for a drink and food. Short staffed when we got there, took about 15 minutes to see the waitress who was nice but very busy. We ordered 2 apps of calamari, 2 apps of coconut shrimp and an order of clams. The coconut shrimp were over cooked and were from a box, not good. The calamari showed up and it was a frozen product from a box and was so rubbery that we couldn’t eat it. The clams never showed up. I should have asked if the calamari was fresh but when your in a fishing town , you kinda expect to have fresh seafood. She said no one ever complains about the calamari which I find hard to believe. They took the calamari off our bill , and we left . Not impressed with the restaurant, heard it used to be good but looks like things have changed. Great location and very busy, too bad the food was subpar.
We come frequently to visit family in Yarmouth. We have been literally hundreds of times to this restaurant. I've never been more disappointed prices have increased incredibly and the amount of lobster in the dishes has decreased to almost nothing. The lobster mac and cheese is a newer dish on the menu so I ordered it tonight and there may have been three tiny pieces of lobster in it. A family member ordered the chowder which promised to have lots of lobster and there was one tiny piece in it. Yes the taste was good but not at this price!! I've gone from a raving fan to a disappointed one.
