The restaurant was very busy, and despite having numerous staff members, the service was slow and hard to get when needed. The affogato dessert was good, but the chocolate mousse seemed like it had been left out for a day or so. I cannot comment on the entrees and mains, but something as simple as pizza should always be served hot.
Gonzo...gondola... zarilli... what was it called again? Our group of six was looking for a simple lunch in the Yarra Valley, and I had heard good things about the pizza and antipasto at this place. After struggling to remember the name for a few minutes, I finally found it on Yelp - Zonzo. Located among vineyards and lush hills in Yarra Glen, the restaurant offers a shared menu for $40 that includes a variety of antipasto, bread, salads, and pizzas. The food was delicious, with a great selection of olives, cheese, meats, and grilled vegetables in the antipasto, and a seemingly endless supply of pizzas with interesting flavors. The staff were friendly, but a bit too eager, constantly offering drink top-ups. Despite that, the overall experience was great and I look forward to returning, if only I can remember the name next time.
Zonzo at one of the nicest volume wineries in the Yarra Valley offers a great dining experience. Perfect for group wine treks, they offer set banquet-style lunches and dinners that are sure to please everyone. With a variety of antipasto, salads, and pizzas to share, there is something for everyone. The modern barnhouse-style space features a large open room with windows that provide stunning views of the rolling hills and vineyards. It is also a great venue for parties and functions. Overall, Zonzo offers a wonderful dining experience in a beautiful setting.
Following good reviews, I thought this would be a great place to spend time with our Melbourne family. The food was great and the service fast. The location is beautiful and great for a function but it does loose its intimacy because it's so big. I'm not a great fan of set booking times... that pressure of needing to rush due to another sitting booked on your table. We travelled on a Sunday so perhaps that's their busiest time. Strange thing was that a lot of the tables were empty while we had lunch.... I had to almost beg to get a table after being on the waiting list for the same time so it didn't quite make sense. If you are lactose intolerant forget about the availability of soy milk... apparently it's too hard to change the jug over! Tip before deciding to have the set menu, it is worthwhile looking a range of dishes of your choosing to share as you might find that you will pay less per person and have a lot more variety in your dishes. Overall, a good experience and definitely worth a visit if you plan to travel to the Yara Valley.
It's not often that you travel interstate with dietary Requirements and take a punt on a restaurant and are rewarded with a fabulous meal. That happened today at zonzo. Nothing was too hard for the staff and service was speedy and friendly. Food was amazing and the view was spectacular!
