When you get off the water taxi from Puerto Vallarta there are several places for you to hang out on the beach. You are told that beach hangout is included (food and drinks not included in with your water taxi fare. Each of the various spots have a handler on the beach enticing you to visit their beach bar/restaurant that includes restrooms. You 're kind of trapped on the beach in a way. There is no signage directing you to the town of Yelapa and when you ask one of the handlers they try to sell you an excursion . Needless to say the situation is a little frustrating. We ordered Margaritas and nachos. The drinks were really good but the nachos really weren 't. Basically, just melted Monterey Jack cheese on chips topped with tough tiny bits of beef served with Pico de Gallo on the side. The service we received was great. We read several Yelp reviews about added charges. We didn 't experience that but be prepared just in case. Take a picture of the menu and use it when the time comes to reconcile your check. Also, bring pesos. DO NOT use a debit or credit card. All of the beach from joints take them but you run the risk fraud. There are two ways to get to Yelapa. You can take the bus from PV to Boca for eight pesos per person (one way then take a water taxi to Yelapa for about 180 pesos round trip per person. Or you can take the water taxi from Los Muertos Beach pier in PV for 500($30 U.S. round trip. I recommend taking the water taxi from PV and save yourself the hassle of getting to and riding the bus. The journey to Yelapa is about 45 minutes.
Similar to what was described in an earlier review, pay attention to the calculation of the charges in your bill. When questioned, the waiter said it included the tip. I 'd have tipped similar amount anyway but just don 't like when it includes a hidden tip without telling you. If I didn 't notice, I 'd have tipped them twice. Another strange thing was the tour guide accompanying us on the water taxi highly recommended this restaurant upon the boat landing in front of this place on the beach (instead of using the pier).
Do Not use your credit card to pay. This is the only place I used a credit card to pay for a bill and within hours had tons of fraudulent charges run up. Visited 8/16/23 possibly card info skimmed and sold off by a shady waiter (only person who had possession of my card besides myself). It's my best guess but it's the only place I used my card, handed to waiter, before +10 fraudulent charges next day from Seattle, WA,, Arlington, Virginia, ETC.... We had a large bill and left a very good tip. What a shame. Food was decent, beer was warm.
Nice place to lunch with a great view and beach loungers to take in the scenery after the meal. We had cheese quesadillas and chicken fajitas, both came complete with rice salad. The chicken dish included tortillas and refired beans as well. Excellent presentation and a friendly staff rounded out our experience. Service: Dine in Meal type: Brunch Price per person: MX$100–200
