Bullocks Bistro - Yellowknife

Based on other reviews we were expecting this to be a great spot. It took two hours to get 3 poutines and a fish and chips after being told it would be a 20-30 minute wait. The food was average and definitely not worth that wait.

It was a very busy day, with a reservation we still waiting 1.5 hours for our food from the time we ordered. They were out of many items. We all had whitefish, some deep fried and some pan fired both were excellent, fries weren’t great. Atmosphere is something that needs to be experienced.

Great food, prepared to perfection. The culinary experience is spectacular. That alone makes this place a must visit. Fresh caught lake fish it doesn't get much better than this. The atmosphere won't appeal to everyone however. We booked a reservation for two a few days in advance and were seated at the bar right by the front door a blast of cold air hitting us every time it opened. However, the upside was that we had front row seats to the food prep area and could watch the chef in action. Don't go in expecting a comfortable dining experience as that's not really what this place is about. But the exquisite cuisine makes this place a must visit.

Customers beware. The policy of Bullock's Bistro is that if you make a reservation it is for a seat not a table no matter how many people your reservation is for. We made a reservation for 4 people and were seated at the bar instead of a vacant table that was available. We will never ever be back.

The service and ambiance at Bullocks was great they greeted us like friends, even though I hadn't been in YK for 10 years the fish was so fresh the Pickerel is always worth the splurge!!
