Hub Yokohama Tsuruyacho

Great bar! eating was appetizing, although a little small for the portion sizes for a big guy, it was delicious. the atmosphere was festive and light on interactive and I could not believe it was a British pub in the middle of yokohama japan. great experience!

The Hub is a popular British pub style bar located throughout Japan. They offer reasonably priced beer and some light food, in what often may be a rowdy atmosphere. This review is based on the Yokohama station, Tsuruyacho branch of the bar. It’s located within a couple minutes of the N.W. Exit of Yokohama station in an area full of bars. There are actually two locations in the same Tsuruyacho area, but this is based on the street level location. There is a covered “outer” table area facing the street, which may be a good option for those who prefer open air atmosphere in the bar, but note, that it is often very crowded and there may be no options to choose where to sit. The bar serves a variety of cocktails as well as a somewhat limited selection of beers on tap and bottles. Sadly the company has held back from embracing the wide variety of craft beer options which seem prevalent these days. The food option isn’t bad as some dishes are pretty tasty. Their buffalo wings are probably among my favorites, as they taste pretty good but sadly like many other restaurants serving buffalo wings, they split the wings in half, so each wing you get is pretty small. That said, they’re pretty decent tasting if you’re craving buffalo wings. Other decent bites include pizza, jalapeño bottle caps (fried jalapeño slices) and nachos. Most dishes are kind of small and are meant more for light finger food to share and not a proper meal. The atmosphere here, like many other Hub (and similar pub style establishments here) locations can be a bit rowdy at times. As old Ben Kenobi once said “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.” And perhaps he was talking about some other place, I always refer to this particular branch as the Star Wars Cantina. As there’s an interesting mix os characters. Though I guess the Shinjuku branch may be more fitting to that description. That said, if you’re meeting up with some friends and need a fun spot to hang out and drink, this Hub may be a good option. There is another location across the street on the 2nd floor which may be a much quieter option, if that’s what you prefer. Best bar in the region for intermingling of locals and gaijin. A must go for a fun night out and good language exchange. Edit for May 2022: Social Distancing ruins the vibe a bit and the drink prices are out of hand. A single pint now costs more than a whole tray of mixed drinks did a decade ago (a boss coffee is still 100円 .

Great place. Excellent staff. Recommended. Good night. But what could be a bad experience, where I have sillyly left valuables on a stand. Good news, waiter came out to return goods. Absolutely first class
