I didn't mind sitting upstairs or being asked to move tables after 20 minutes, but I was disappointed when the loud music wasn't turned down when requested. I had a coffee while waiting for my friend, and then ordered a tea and scone with butter and jam. Unfortunately, the scone was extremely dry and no amount of jam could make it better. I had a similar experience with poor scones on a previous visit with a group. I paid £13.50 for my meal and found the gentleman at the front desk to be quite rude. Despite it being a busy day, he should have been more welcoming. There are plenty of other tea rooms in York that offer better quality scones, so I won't be returning to this restaurant.
Food was really nice Tea was great Been here a few times staff are normally friendly. The older woman that greeted us at the door was rude when we were seated and served some food was forgotten. When letting her know she was again rude. Don’t expect to have tea with a side of attitude, ruined the experience
We arrived just 10 minutes before closing time, but the two girls working there did not rush us at all. They were friendly and attentive, creating a cozy atmosphere without making us feel cramped. The pots of tea were generously filled with tea leaves, making for a delightful experience. We'll have to try the food on our next visit. Overall, it's definitely worth making a detour to visit this charming spot in Royal Tunbridge Wells.
We had an absolutely outstanding high tea at this restaurant, one of the best we have ever had (and we have had many). The food was fresh, homemade, and incredibly tasty. We will definitely be returning in the future.
So disappointing . Earl Grey tea lacked any flavour , English breakfast tea OK . Scones stale . Teapots old, tarnished and leaking . Service poor . Staff totally disinterested .
