Dropped in for a drink as it’s local to us and we had not been before. Band on. I went to the toilet briefly. When I came out husband had been kicked out. Not quick enough buying a drink. Don’t worry won’t be back. Rude!!...More

WOW what a stench, called in as a pit stop on our way to an Indian I have never smelled anything as bad in my life, if I hadn't needed the toilet I would've walked straight out. Mucky musky smell of I don't know what, DEEP clean needed.

It's been a good few years since we last went to the Edinburgh arms , we were set on going elsewhere for tea , when we spoke to a couple in a nearby pub, who were on their way there and they said how good the food was. On initial impressions it looked a bit desolate inside as there was only the afforementioned couple in the lounge when we walked in . but after an excellent pint of Black sheep for myself and a wine for my wife we took the plunge and ordered some food. we had a bacon and cheese burger a lamb burger both with homemade chips and a side portion of proper homemade onion rings. I can only describe the food as exceptional value for money , the bacon cheese burger was superb , but the lamb burger was even better . By far the best we have ever tasted. The landlord was friendly and helpful the local pool team who came in whilst we were there were friendly and welcoming. we will certainly be back soon , The steak and garlic chicken sound very nice !!

We enjoyed two visits here. Great service at the bar from friendly staff. There was live music on Saturday night that we all enjoyed. 60's was their theme. Situated near the Barbican.

Great value, clean and tidy rooms. Very warm welcome and very friendly/helpful bar staff/management. Excellent drinks selection..... the Famous Grouse Scotch and Woods Dark Rum went down a treat with the pints. Fantastic meals ..... large, extremely tasty portions ..... cooked as requested (in my case, well done . A great place to relax. Ideally located for York attractions and on bus route to city centre/railway station. The best establishment I have encountered for Covid safety procedures ..... they could not have been more thorough.
