Nice layout and wasn't too busy when we went in, managed to get near the window which was a great spot to people-watch. I didn't have anything to eat, so I cannot comment on that part. But it seems like a great place to relax and catch up with friends, or simply take the weight off your feet a little, as you watch the world go by.
Spring is our go to coffee shop in York. The food is lovely we had brunch sausage sandwich and bacon sandwich. The coffee is so well made nice beans, well extracted overall excellent. They have expanded the seating area into the adjoining premises....so getting a table may be easier. A go to place in York.
I never write reviews, but my experience here was very important to me. I stopped into Spring Espresso with my mom on our way out of York for a quick coffee and pastry for takeaway a few days ago. My cappuccino was great, but the croissant was so amazing I haven’t stopped thinking about it! It was the butteriest, flakiest, most delightful treat. Eating this croissant felt so luxurious, even though I had to eat it in the car and made a mess. The bottom part was crunchy, crispy, and melted in my mouth. I feel like I can still taste it. I really believe this was the best butter croissant I’ve had. My mom ordered the almond croissant and said it was the best she’s had too! It was such an unexpected surprise and I will never forget it. Thank you!!!
There are but a handful of places in Yorkshire where you can get a decent cappuccino and this is one of them. A proper Italian style cappuccino, not the usual swimming pool of milk that Brits are addicted to. And the amazing flapjack was, well, amazing! (The Bakewell was pretty good as well). Highly recommended.
4 of us for breakfast/brunch. Pancakes themselves were good, and very tasty, but would you consider making an option for a smaller portion size and reduce cost down accordingly from £9.50 price tag? This may make a nice addition to the menu. Chef's poached eggs, were hard cooked in the middle, there was zero runny yolk. Sourdough toast part was nice. Service itself was very slow, had to find our own menus to provide to our table, waiting to order was slow and another 25 minutes to wait for food to be delivered to us. The tea and coffee we ordered arrived about 5-8 minutes after ordering and was drunk and cold long before any food arrived. Had high hopes, for a lovely breakfast, It almost was.... sorry Spring Espresso, your exterior and menu was so promising...sadly you need to up your game on the poached eggs and portion size options on this one. We paid £48.20 for 3 x pancakes, 1 x poached eggs on toast, 2 x OJ (admittedly fresh and decent portion), 1 flat white, and 1 x tea
