Tesco - York

I ordered the posh beans on toast with a poached egg on top, and it was delicious. I believe it was only 450 calories. Since I was dining alone, I was able to observe the hardworking waiters and waitresses. The staff was lovely, very friendly and polite. The cafe was run efficiently, with tables being cleaned immediately after they were vacated. I would definitely recommend this place.

The cashier at this restaurant was extremely rude. I ordered a strawberries and cream frappe, and when he finished making it, I complemented how nice it looked. He responded by saying, "Well, it's actually the most difficult drink to make, so you're welcome," and slammed my drink down. I visit this place at least twice a week since I attend college nearby and have never had a bad experience until now. I was not impressed by his attitude at all.

The man named Harry, with his brown, greasy, unkempt hair, was extremely rude during our visit to the restaurant. When my friend ordered a strawberry and cream frappe and expressed excitement about it, Harry responded by saying, "It's a pain in the arse drink to make, SO YOU'RE WELCOME," and then slammed the drink down on the counter, causing it to spill. Throughout our meal, he kept walking past our table and staring at us. This behavior is unacceptable for someone working with customers. If he doesn't enjoy interacting with customers, he should find another job. Simple as that.

Tesco if you are reading this please offer options for people with Coeliac/gluten intolerant. This is not a choice like being vegan it is a serious health condition. Offering a jacket potato is not good enough in this day and age. Offer soup and a gf roll or a gf sandwich. Really disappointed.

The food is expansive and not that good (specially the crispy chicken burger, which is often served cremated I suspect they fry it over and over again) but as the ambiance is nice, I kept going for lunch and ordering breakfast, which is not too bad. Marcus, (who I believe to be the manager) was nice only once, when he needed us to give a good review on a survey (which we did, but later regretted). Now there is an older waitress who thinks she can treat customers like sh*t. I have always tried to ignore her rudeness because I like the place but today I had enough when I saw her being extremely rude to some very polite customers next table just because they were from the College. The way they are treating customers is truly disgusting and I’m not coming back.
