The Fox and Roman - York

This is a large, sprawling pub, formerly the Fox HotelThe 'Roman' connection dates from the discovery of a Roman grave on the site in 1833.

Me and my husband ate here with another couple after the races a few weeks ago.

My reservation wasn't found and I couldn't prove it without my phone. We waited for 40 minutes in the pub area for a dry starter. Typically, the food at this restaurant is great, but they were unprepared tonight.

We received a call two hours before our reservation informing us that the restaurant was closed due to a gas issue in the kitchen. The staff apologized for the inconvenience, but could not offer any solutions.
