We stayed for 2 days in January and we stayed at one of the cottages (144 series). The room was warm and cozy with a gas fireplace inside and a 270 degree view of the lake. It was quite the view. There was a safe in the room, a keurig machine, a mini fridge, and iron and a little balcony for smokers I guess. There was also a bay window with a little seating area which was nice if you wanted to read a book or just look out at the lake. The staff at the front desk was very helpful and friendly and accommodating. They were so helpful in fact that when we called to see if they had a corkscrew opener and they came and dropped it off for us. This was very thoughtful and accommodating and saved us a trip back out in the cold. The spa personnel were also very friendly and learned our names really fast. We had a hot stone massage massage with Trista. I highly highly highly recommend this especially with Trista. Luciano also did an exceptional job with my Swedish massage. There's lots to see and do on the grounds. We went cross country skiing and snow shoeing on one of the 7 trails they have available. The also offered Bon fires, and s'more night. The restaurant at the Briars was exceptional. My wife and I shared our dinners so we were able to sample a few more items. The braised lamb was by far the best. The medallions were also really good. The swordfish was just ok. Here are a few starters that were good; the gnocchi (very filling), the kale and pear salad, squash and apple soup and the humus (large portion). All and all a very nice establishment with quality people.
I believe this restaurant is one of the few places in Algonac where busy individuals can enjoy a meal made with fresh and tasty ingredients.
My husband and I went here during the Easter long weekend. It was my 4th time here and my husband's 2nd time. Food - ExcellentService - ExcellentHotel - Really needs some renovations done. The pool area, games room and downstairs are renovated. We stayed in the Manor House - 4 poster room and although everything was functional, on the doors, walls, carpet, bathroom and furniture, there is definitely signs of wear and tear. They really need to renovate and modernize their rooms. I always enjoy staying here. It is a short drive from Toronto and it is nice place to relax. The location is great and it is so nice to be close to the lake, have delicious food and have a spa so close by.We are looking forward to coming back in the summer (when there is much more to see and do) but hopefully they invest in modernizing their furniture and decor....
Celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary today we decided to have a local dinner. We very much enjoyed The Dining Room at Briars in Jackson's Point. A bottle of Italian Pino Grigio, crab cakes appetizer (shared), lamb shank for me, shrimp risoto for him and ginger creme Brule (shared) for dessert!!! Accompanied by a live musician (on Monday evening?) and excellent service; dinner was the highlight of the day...not even the sunset over lake Simcoe could hold up. Total with gratuity...$175. Loved it.
This was a great choice. Historic Inn in Jackson's Point. Service, ambience and meal were all great. They had a piano player who was great. I would definitely return to the Briar's.
