Mykonos Cocina Mediterranea - Zacatecas

We stopped at Mykonos in the middle of a 4-day driving trip from the US to Puerto Vallarta. One night’s stop was in the lovely city of Zacatecas, a very old city that looks European and is just charming. Mykonos was exceptionally good: we were treated warmly and Enrique served in the front of the house and was a wealth of knowledge about the area. He mentioned the owner of Mykonos actually has a PhD in International Studies but caught the cooking bug several years ago, and his food is just fantastic. Mykonos is in the middle of the town center, so great walking around this beautiful area before or after your meal.

Great location, wonderful Mediterranean cuisine, excellent service and good prices. The kitchen is open an is very clean and tidy, we were happy to meet the chef!

I went to this restaurant on my own last week and ordered some Greek specials since I lived in Greece for a while and missed it’s food and boy it was not Greek at all. You can make better food looking at YouTube zatziki was tasteless watered down yoghurt. Mainly food on the menu looks like Italian and North African. A piece of bread came to table as I ordered my food and even though it was warm outside inside it was stale. Expensive for average traveler.

My whole family is Greek, and I've been eating authentic Greek food all my life. This, friends, is not it. Most of the dishes on the menu steer much closer to Middle Eastern than Greek food. I tried a couple of dishes that at least attempted to be Greek cuisine but, sadly, they weren't very close. The food was decent but not particularly good, and it's very expensive for what it is.
