In the evening, in addition to Yaeyama soba and jushi (Okinawan style sushi), they also offer izakaya-style dishes. A sign saying "Reservation required" was posted, indicating that advance booking is essential as evening seats tend to be fully booked. The cozy atmosphere inside the small restaurant exudes a nostalgic warmth. The owner is also very friendly. The small-sized Yaeyama soba costs 600 yen, and the soki pork was sold out during the day. The basic Yaeyama soba is very simple, with a refreshing salt-based soup that has a strong flavor of bonito and is very delicious. The three-layered pork soba costs 900 yen, with the same soup and noodles as the Yaeyama soba. The three-layered pork on top has a slightly higher lean meat ratio, making it tender and not too heavy - which is very tasty. The yakisoba costs 950 yen and is made with the same broth as the Yaeyama soba. The noodles are similar to those used in Yaeyama soba, and the dish has a soy sauce flavor akin to yakisoba or yakisoba. The mozuku seaweed tempura is made with not only mozuku but also onions, giving it a chewy and crispy texture. The island tofu and thick fried tofu costs 550 yen, while the "suchika" - fried salted pork - costs 750 yen.
This is a popular restaurant on Taketomi Island. Reservations are a must. The lunch crowd was huge. Especially now, with the coronavirus, the restaurant may be closed or have different operating hours than what is listed on Google Maps, so it can be difficult to find a place to eat. Be sure to make a reservation. The friendly owner serves delicious food no matter what you order. The Rafute bowl has tender and tasty pork. The mozuku tempura is a must-try in Okinawa. The island pickled onions are crunchy and fresh like onions. The crunchy pork meat fries were delicious. We arrived just in time, and the restaurant warmly welcomed us, providing a comfortable dining experience. I would like to visit again.
This restaurant serves delicious Yaeyama soba. My children were a little worried as it was their first time trying Yaeyama soba, but they devoured it and said they wanted to eat it every day during our trip. Both adults and children enjoyed the meal! While the Soki soba was also tasty, the gentle flavor of the Yaeyama soba broth was particularly delicious.
