The restaurant seems to have a fresh new look. All the photos that were recently posted are of the old establishment. Since my last visit, which was quite some time ago, there are new tables, new wallpaper, new staff, and a revamped menu. I tried the Cashew Chicken, which was served with some nice vegetables and a bit of fried rice on the side. I also ordered it with the optional soup and egg roll. The soup could have had a bit more spice, but overall, the food was quite good. My wife ordered the salad rolls, which we probably won't choose again. They were presented as a highlight, but the interior renovation might change that impression. However, the service was fantastic!
The restaurant offers tasty Chinese and Taiwanese dishes. Some items are a bit on the salty side, but overall very enjoyable. The Thai Curry appeared quite thick, so I would recommend skipping that dish. The service was very friendly. I would definitely go back.
I have discussed a recommendation for this place for only selfish reasons. Some of me want to keep this restaurant secret. But another ignorant side of me also loves to share mysteries... so that anyone who reads this may be able to help you decide between options for dinner tonight. My wife and I lived in Beijing and loved so many of the local restaurants we discovered over the years. Since the retreat to the United States we are always looking for a place that approaches the same type and quality of food we enjoyed in various family restaurants throughout the HaiDian district. Reis Cooker is the closest one we found. Your food is excellent. The prices, fair. The service is fast and attentive. Very recommended. Xie xie, Rice Cooker!
The takeout process was very well organized, with our food ready for pickup at the selected time without any waiting. And the ability to pay ahead of time made the process even quicker. As for the food, I really liked the Hawaiian chicken. The rest of our food (fried rice, egg rolls, potstickers) was decent, but I wouldn't say spectacular. So overall, I'd say this is a solid option for Chinese, even if maybe not my favorite.
