Very nice bright atmospere. However Wiener Schnitzel not tender at that price and wine prices with CHF 12.50 for one glass of white and CHF 14.— for ONE glass of mediocre red, this is not customer friendly !!! Our group agreed that quality should improve and wine prices be lowered urgently if Hofwiesen wants to keep up its good name. Hope this helps to further improve.
I was here for a business lunch the restaurant is modern and nice, just in front of the 11 tram stop Bad Allenmoos Food is high quality, for sure the highlight is the (huge) Wienerschnitzel not cheap but fair!
We were warmky welcomed in a white and bright interior. The menu card has a variety of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. The schnitsel was the best I ever had, somewhat crispy with an excellent taste. We also had the lam, beef filet and a mixed grill of fish all perfectly done and fulk of flavour. There is a wide variety of austrian wines and we were very well recommended by the lady of the hause with an excellent merlot. We definitely will come back here to enjoy the warl athmosphere created by the owners and definitely for the excellent food just to mention as well the excellent closer of the evening with the Kaiserschmarren as desert. What a brilliant dinner experience.
Advertised as the first Austrian restaurant in Zurich, they obviously want to live up to their slogan. And they do in many ways. Theres Schnitzel, Topfen, Strudel, Krapfen and so on. Noteworthy is that there is also a fine Austrian wine selection and Austrian beer. Service is good even though there are people who would call it slow you shouldn't be in a hurry for good food though... The quality of food here is very good (the schnitzel was a bit on the dry side for my taste, though , even though you can't get fries. What needs to be said is that helpings are not as large as you would expect in an Austrian restaurant and neither are the prices as low as they are there (and I don't think that they correspond to the size of the meals served... . The outside sitting area is very cosy, unless you sit out front where the street with its trams is.
