We met and hung out with a few of the locals and just enjoyed ourselves. I will definitely be going back. Oh, I forgot to mention an expansive balcony overlooking a lake.
Let me preface this by saying: I. LOVE. CHEERS. My goodness, I’ve never found a watering hole like this one. Sometimes you do want to go where everybody knows your name, and when I go to Cheers, that’s definitely the case! On a Tuesday a while back my morning alarm went off, and while I was tempted to hit the snooze button, I chose not to…I had a breakfast date with happiness at my favorite bar, Cheers! Just like famous activist Ice Cube said, today was going to be a good day. First step: call my homie g-fresh Skids to pick up a touch of Peruvian marching powder. For a full day of drinking, you gotta go in prepped for stamina. Skids was good to go, so I hopped on my bike and headed that way. 436 is pretty busy, so I took the side streets. Rolling up to Skids’ place, something seemed off, but I really needed that sweet nose candy, because I was going to drink all day, so I went inside. I shouldn’t have. I walked in, and there’s Skids, sitting in his underwear laughing himself to death surrounded by mountains of booger sugar. There’s a pile of cash on the floor, and he’s clearly taken some of the acid he had sitting next to him. He was throwing donut after donut against the wall and not making any sense. I tossed some cash on the table and grabbed a bag of what I needed. And a little taste of the acid. The ride to Cheers was STRANGE. Fire hydrants were becoming dragons, oak trees were talking to me, and the road started to become mushy. I kept pushing forward, though, as I sank into the road. I had a day of drinking planned, and nothing, not even this squishy road, was going to stop me. I had to get there. I began to shed clothing layers, one at a time, in an effort to get to the bar, but soon had exhausted all of my energy and blacked out. I awoke several days later on the shore of a secluded retention pond without and clothes and covered in mud. Was I still in time for happy hour? Of course. Because at Cheers, every hour is a happy one.
Beautiful view. Good prices on drinks. Friendly staff. Convenient location. Good parking. Perfect little whole in the wall.
Bartenders are cute but seem short tempered. As a bartender myself, small talk and casual chit chat to know your clientele, is a huge part of the job. I went in with 2 other friends and they were trying to make conversation and they had stale face and seemed disinterested. However. The drinks were made correctly. Were affordable and not ridiculously over priced. And the other patrons of the bar were very sweet. Felt like a relaxed environment.
If you like stiff drinks and and the friendliest bartenders in town make sure you don't pass up Cheers. Come for the $2 burgers and special Sunday football dishes, stay for the Belle of the Ball, Friday night all-you-eat wings. And whatever you do, make sure you order a Stand-Up Vicky!
