Two of the orders were for children, so we had to send them back. The adults received their food first, while the kids had to wait until we were finished eating. The cottage cheese perogies tasted strange and the gravy was overly sweet, making it inedible for me. One person in our group ordered a 3 piece chicken dinner, but found it to have an odd taste as well. As a chain restaurant, we expected the breading on the chicken to be consistent, but it was not. The owner/manager who brought us the bill seemed unhappy and did not apologize for the long wait or the mishaps with our orders. Overall, we were not impressed and do not plan on returning anytime soon.
We have dined at the Altona location twice in the past two weeks, once for lunch and once for dinner, and it was truly a delightful experience. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious. There has been a change in management recently, and it is evident in the improved quality compared to our last visit five years ago. The chicken was flavorful and moist with a crispy coating that surpassed our previous KFC meal. For dinner on Friday, we enjoyed the Fish and Chips, which consisted of two large pieces of lightly battered cod and was a true delight. The servers were knowledgeable about the menu items and provided excellent service. We are looking forward to trying their pizza selection on our next visit.
On our last visit, they not only forgot the large gravy I paid for, but they also told me that my order would take 25 minutes. I arrived in exactly 25 minutes, as I had waited in the parking lot for it before leaving town. When I got home, the fries and chicken were cold, and my kids refused to eat them. The chicken container had grease stains, indicating that it had been sitting for a while. When I called to complain, the young girl on the phone said she didn't remember my order, and there was no manager available, so I had to wait until Tuesday after the long weekend to follow up. I highly doubt they will do anything about it four days later. I am extremely disappointed, especially considering that my bill was $50 and no one in my family ate the food. I should have returned to the restaurant to demand a refund, but we were in a hurry to eat quickly and leave for the cabin. This experience has taught me a valuable lesson.
I had the experience of dining here several times. Not one of them I would call delightful. Dont even bother going after 7 pm or you will get bad service and the bum rush to get out. My order was brought to me wrong more times than right. The chicken noddle soup was store bought chicken broth and spaghetti noddles. I could go on but im losing my appetite. Depending on who is working (age thing) you may or may not be able to order a beer with dinner.
We met our kids here for lunch yesterday. The food is okay, they have (obviously), chicken, pizza, fries, mashed, poutine, kids meals, salads, veal cutlet, shrimp and burgers. (Menu available on-line). It is very reasonable $48.00 Canadian for 4 adults and 1 child, is cheap. They messed up my husbands burger and it had to be redone, it was redone quickly, the chicken was good, the poutine okay. The staff were friendly and helpful, but would we rush back? Not likely.
