Friendly staff and well run. Good food too. Rooms are old and have some mold. Hallway carpets are stained and smell very musty. Lights in bathroom blink.
Many history. family owned and very friendly and worried about guests. large 3-course menu served with tons of family style sweet and kartoffeln.

We visited as part of a weekend trip to celebrate a confirmation in Convoy, staying minutes away in Kees Hotel Stranorlar. Our first impression upon entering was the hotel was clean and cozily furnished. On check in we found staff on reception were polite, friendly and prompt in showing us to our room. We shared a bed room for per night, which between of us meant per person sharing, which was spacious, airy and clean an absolute bargain for families like ours! We saw afternoon tea was available for This included finger sandwiches such as egg mayonnaise, prawn with marie rose sauce, ham and cheese and roast beef, as well as a scone with jam and cream and a selection of pastries, like creme brulee, chocolate fudge cake, mini meringues with cream and mini cheesecake. For the price it was extremely generous, but more importantly delicious and filling. For a glass of champagne was also available. Clearly the prices were far removed from what you’d pay in Dublin, although the quality was well on par. On the first day we shared a single afternoon tea between of us as we weren’t overly hungry having had lunch earlier that day and just wanted to sample the goods, although we had two afternoon teas on the second day for lunch which was more than sufficient to appease our appetites. On the first evening we also had dinner between of us. With one starter and three mains the bill totalled which again represented great value for money given the exceptional quality of the food. I had a rib eye steak, cooked to perfection medium rare, with crispy fried onions. Another of us had the traditional fish and chips, with the fish cooked in a lovely thin, light and crispy batter. Finally the last of our party opted for the steak sandwich with melted cheese, which was, in her opinion, arguably the best steak sandwich she ever tasted. These were all accompanied by a generous portion of mash and fries, which went perfectly with the mains. Staff we met were for the most part young, but extremely helpful and prompt in attending to us, not only in the restaurant but also the bar where we separately enjoyed some drinks. Overall, fantastic value for money a lovely, warm and welcoming service by all the staff. We will definitely return!
