Went there with a few girlfriends and were treated like ****, because we are middle aged maybe? The decor is tacky too. It just seems that the attitude in this place is "were the best".. sorry, but you're not. I really dislike this place. Will not return.
We had a small sized group of nine looking for some fun out in our town. We started at 10:15 pm at Escrow and were very surprised to see they were just setting up for the evening. However, the First thing they told us was they had a group of their friends coming and we couldn't sit in a certain area! okay....btw, the friends came when we left at 11.The music was okay at first - volume not horrifically loud, good tunes while we ordered drinks and chatted and laughed together as we hadn't all been together for a while. I guess they noticed this and changed the music to VERY LOUD very BAD music. We had to ask them to turn the speaker pointing at us down, so we could at least YELL to one another ;(It wasn't our age that determined the Very Loud Very Bad taste in music, it was the VACANT dance floor that proved it was bad... we went past again on our way home, the place had a large crowd of about 20 to 30 people while all the other establishments still had line ups outside! So, apparently we were not the only ones who thought this place was a bust. While we were there, we decided to order some food. Uh oh - Seriously?! The flat bread arrived burnt!! Expensive and Burnt?! The Poutine has great fries, tasteless curds and too much gravy. We were the ONLY people in the place, still, and still they couldn't serve us something that WASN'T Burnt!? We decided to let it go because if they don't care enough to entice us back with properly served food when they're not busy, what would be the point in telling them this Great Error on their part! Then one of our guests asked for coffee. She was the DD for the night and thus couldn't drink any alcohol. They explained that for the past three months, their very expensive coffee system had been broken - folks, this place JUST opened this year!! and they hadn't had any assistance in getting it fixed? Note to Escrow: Keurig's and Tasimo's are NOT EXPENSIVE! Go Get One! Serve your guests coffee... maybe even Specialty Coffee! I suggested, since they obviously were NOT busy, one of their staff run next door and grab our gal a java.... he sarcastically said 'sure' and left... obviously no coffee arrived. We've had other establishments actually run out and get whatever was missing from their menu (typically coffee or tea) - and they've had our group back time and time again, happily spending our money on their great food and service. We were just trying to be supportive of a new bar in town - but wow, what a disappointment!I'm very supportive of out local bistros, pubs and restaurants - but this place is sadly lacking in the basic amenities which draw my friends and I into any thought of returning.
This is a new establishment at Barrie's waterfront. It's a restaurant /lounge - expect modern furniture and style with music playing in the background. Food was decent. Tried wings, flatbreads, chicken sandwich, sweet potato fries. Drinks are good. This is a chill place to meet up for drinks and some nibbles.
Barrie's First Restolounge! Restaurant during the day, a lounge in the evening, social club by night with a dance floor!
Barrie has so much potential, mainly because of its amazing setting by the lake, and yet so few businesses seem to get it. Escrow does. They have created a bright place which opens up on 3 sides with lovely view across the Bay, and has a patio which also overlooks the lake. The atmosphere inside is modern and chic, with tasteful decor. The menu is evolving, but even now has plenty to satisfy the casual diner - the burger and potatoe skins we had were very well prepared, and there was a sufficient variety of salads etc to get me back again. I was told that they will be expanding their evening menu to create more choice. Their beer selection was great, with a good representation of regional brews. At last I have found some competition for Donaleighs, and will be back again before long.
