Zut! On Fourth - Berkeley

The food is excellent—hats off to the chef! However, the service was a bit slow, and we found ourselves having to call them to our table multiple times. Overall, I'd rate the food a 5 out of 5.

I visited primarily for the jazz music, which was excellent. The setup felt somewhat secondary, so I hope the owners consider a better layout in the future. The food was very good, and the portions were sufficient. Food rating: 4/5.

A vegetarian friend chose this restaurant, which may have influenced our visit. The indoor-outdoor dining arrangement is nice for lunch, although we were bothered by flies and other insects. The crab salad sandwich was average at best. Our order was incorrect, but they fixed it promptly. However, the hostess insisted our friend didn’t have a reservation even after seating two of us, and she wouldn’t allow her to check inside for us. Overall, it was just a decent experience, and I probably won’t be returning.

This is a solid choice in the area. I was invited to meet a few friends for lunch during the week and they selected Zut!With both indoor and outdoor seating I suspect this is not a hard reservation. Our severs were great and everything came out quick and tasty.
