We have already eaten twice here and everything we have ordered was delicious and (as much as I can say, authentic. the sweet-sour suppe was the best I've ever eaten, but also the chicken with or sauce is delicious, and their fried noodles. too! it is in a not too beautiful neighbourhood in bologna, absolutely not central, but despite the outer impression, the interior of the restaurant is beautiful and friendly, with moderate decoration. all the waiters speak perfectly Italian and the service is fast and polite, the prices are correct, only the 2€ for the coperta is exaggerated in my opinion.
My first time at bambu was 3 weeks ago and I thought finally, a Chinese restaurant that I can call Chinese. the shumai and the shao lun pao were quite authentic, but unfortunately this was not the case at my second visit last night. The...shumai was made of meat and not the garnel it mentioned on the menu. the spagetti di intergale con gamberetti had only 3 small garnels and was very oily the pollenkonrancia was a heavy fried chicken breast, which was heavily covered with a sweet strange sauce that was neither orange nor lemon. it reminds me of a bad US Chinese. the miraculous suppe was a tiny bowl of 4 knödeln, which looked more like something bigger tortellini with hardly engaged and the filling that was there, tasted nothing like garnel and pork, but everything is flesh based, something like ragu fast. the shao lun pao was at least consistent and so was the riso di curry, but bambu must give me the same quality consistently for me to give a higher rating. I will try for a third time and if that doesn't work, then I will continue my search for decent Chinese food. as much as I love Italian eating, I still want my Chinese food to be Chinese and not being respected to the local flavors.
The restaurant smells good inside and it looks very nice, the owners speak good Italian and are very nice, the prices are good, portioning are ok and the food does not make them swim after eating .. the rice with pine nuts. and pineapple is so good and so is the curry and cashew chicken... I would recommend quality and price
As lovely as the pizza and pasta is in Italy you can only eat so much of the stuff. Craving something different for our one night in Bologna we hunted down Bambu and were so pleased we did. The food, service and general ambience was...great and very relaxed. Prices were very reasonable and for dessert you have to try the fried ice cream.......again a very novel alternative to the numerous gelato offerings in Italy. Bambu is a little off the beaten track but well worth a visit if you've had a belly full of pizza and pasta !
