Seabass - Bournemouth

Had been given a Groupon meal voucher for the restaurant. When I telephoned them to book a table I was informed that the restaurant had permanently closed for business.

Had booked via groupon for Saturday eve at 7.30. When we arrived the place was in darkness. A man opened the door and said “oh you must be Helen. I sent you an email to say we were shut this eve”. (He had but less than an hour before booking and after we had left home). Wow! We were the only people to have booked in an otherwise busy and popular part of town. That says something about the restaurant!!

Lovely meal. Lovely service. We will definitely be back for more. The food was cooked to perfection not too much, but enough. Also the tables were spaced apart, if you wanted to have a private conversation you could and didn't have to squeeze past other diners to leave the table.

The place is lovely and so was the member of staff trying to take care of all the tables, need more staff. My friend had the cheese starter which was basically 3 different cheeses on toast. The main we had the seabass which was nice except didn't come with chroizo and had a ham/bacon instead. Don't have the cheeseboard. I can only think they must've used all the cheese on the starters as when the board came out was just a very small amount of cheddar and lots of lettuce!!! Shame as the main and staff were lovely just the starters and desserts let it down.

Came here with a groupon voucher, the starter to be fair was very nice but the seabass fillet was bream the potatoes were hard and dry the sauce with the fish was 3 tiney pots 1 with half a teaspoon of seafood sauce 1 with a green oil and the 3rd with a vile tartare sauce not sauces I would expect with a fillet of fish in a fish restaurant. Dessert was supposed to be key lime cheesecake it was i believe a strawberry cheesecake from Iceland which was still frozen. The waiter took our plates still pretty full with food and didn't even ask if everything was ok. Definitely wouldn't return.
