Whole Foods Market Williamsburg

This store is frankly a nightmare. It is severely understaffed with a group of poorly paid employees who lack both experience and training in retail. They are often inattentive, uninformed, and at times outright rude, treating their predominantly millennial customers as just a nuisance. It feels as if we’re merely seen as dollar signs. There seems to be no management presence, just a constant flow of minimum wage workers who are unaware of what good customer service looks like. I've lived in the neighborhood long before this Whole Foods branch opened, and since Amazon took over in 2017, I've witnessed a significant decline in the quality of service. It's been a drastic and disappointing change.

I shopped here frequently while in Williamsburg, and I was really impressed by the wide variety of food available—there’s so much to choose from! However, a word of caution: you'll need to show ID to purchase alcohol. My 54-year-old partner was denied his beer because he didn’t have ID at the checkout, even though he clearly looked older than 21. This situation left him quite frustrated. I believe there should be some discretion in these cases, especially when it’s obvious that the customer is of legal age to buy and consume alcohol. Whole Foods Brooklyn needs to be more aligned with this. In contrast, the Whole Foods near Times Square didn’t ask for ID at all when we visited, even though my partner had his passport just in case. Consistency is key! That said, it's still a great store overall.

The checkout staff here are the most unfriendly and unhelpful I've encountered in New York. Thank goodness there's a Trader Joe's opening nearby!

Love this branch of whole foods, has a good selection on the hot cold food counters. Location is close to the East river so I usually make up a food box and take a short walk to eat by the river.

An expensive grocery store with products of good quality. Lots of prepared foods and a modest place to sit and eat.
