The big breakfast was just what it says and a glass of juice would do two people. Very accommodating couple run the cafe that opens at 8am. The regulars start walking in at around 8.30. We got in just after 8 and waddled out around 9 after getting through the mountain of bacon, sausage, toast, baked beans, tomatoe, mushrooms and perfectly poached eggs. It was obviously an old house turned into a homely cafe with rooms and tables everywhere even in the garden.
Went here for breakfast Saturday Morning, I had fried back eggs and hash brown with a coffee and a juice my wife had the same only tea and scrambled eggs. Both were Absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection . Lovely ambience and a lovely couple running it prices are good on comparison to other places in Bunbury. Well worth a visit. I highly recommend this Cafe
My partner and I went to the Candlemakers Cafe the Sunday just gone and were very disappointed. I wish I could comment on the food or the ambiance but we weren't even able to get to the counter to order before a waitress accosted us and stated very bluntly that there would be a 45 minutes wait for breakfast, although I was a bit taken aback by the abruptness of it I smiled and said that was okay as we were only planning to have coffee and cake, she then proceeded to tell us that would be at least 25 minutes, I said that was okay (we weren't in a rush and the cakes looked great) and then she proceeded to tell us (in a very hassled way) that they were very busy and they only had to of them working. Maybe this is an overreaction on my part but I felt as if it was a hassle for them to have us there and that we were not welcome, it may not have been her intention to make us feel this way but they may need to rethink their approach to telling customers that they are busy. At least let the customer approach the counter first for a start, instead of standing right in front of them and putting them on the spot. Now I probably should have bitten my tongue and left quietly but I felt so shocked that I said the first thing that came to my mind which was "are we not welcome here" (I know it was very rude and I regret letting that slip out) to which she seemed shocked and completely changed her tune but by this point we were decided on leaving. I'm not unreasonable, I know that cafes get busy (especially on weekends) but there are more professional and nicer ways to let your valued customer know this.
This charming cafe has a cozy, homely atmosphere. The owners are friendly and welcoming. The outside area is small but pleasant. However, the food was disappointing as there was egg shell in my dish and it was quite bland. It's a nice place for a cup of coffee though.
A cozy restaurant with nice decorations and decent service. I ordered a ham steak with mushrooms and a tomato/cheese breakfast-style dish for lunch, while my wife had satay chicken skewers with chips and salad. My meal was enjoyable, but my wife's chicken was overcooked. The chips were underdone and the salad was drenched in balsamic vinegar. Overall, it was an okay experience, but nothing extraordinary.
