However, to say that it was disappointing and embarrassing to serve would be an understatement. The cake was filled with an excessive amount of berries mixed with a thickening agent, resulting in a strange texture with a gel-like sauce. The cake should have been warmed up to improve the texture. It was the worst cake I've ever tasted. We all left it uneaten on the side of our plates. It was a complete failure as a dessert for such an important event. Deceiving others with such a poor quality cake is not fair.
I have been a patron of this restaurant for many years. The current location was off to a good start a year or two ago. However, recently they have stopped serving meat cake. The interior of the restaurant is now very unclean and chaotic. The countertops are dirty and messy, and it looks like a tornado went through the place. The plexiglass barriers are covered in oily fingerprints and the product shelves are empty. I would not recommend coming back to this restaurant.
After learning about the Calgary Farmers Market next door, we received a recommendation to visit this restaurant and try the Saskatoon Berry Pie. Eager to try new things not available at home, we decided to purchase a cake to enjoy later at our hotel. Despite not having a microwave in our room, we were still able to enjoy the cake at room temperature, which was delicious. Although the cake was quite sweet, it was also surprisingly filling, despite its small size. We are grateful for the opportunity to taste their dessert.
With my man for cake, what a disappointment to say the minimum!!! to say it took so long to open, I don't know what they think he tries to open his own peasant market. The products weren't fresh, so we... forget that. I went to buy some cake, the guy with the Curly Fuzzy hair stood over the cake with his mask on his chin not covered the mouth or the nose talked to a woman she had in her hand, I was totally discussed. I went out and will not try again to follow the rules Lord,
When we lived in Calgary, we discovered Simon’s Pies. They are beyond Awesome ! Since moving back to Vancouver Island, we make it a ritual to go back to Calgary for dozens of frozen pies and bring them back home. Wish Simon would open up...a place on the Island. Simon, if you are reading this, you know who we are). Cheers !
