I come back all couple months to upperwest to see what kim added to the menu and enjoy a cool and relaxing dinner in the week. this time we enjoyed a meat and cheeseboard of six products, most of which were chosen by it, and the pasta of the day. I have never left what they and xavier make for eating or drinking.
I will revisit the reviews for this restaurant and wonder what we missed. The place has a quirky vibe and we stumbled upon it because there were limited options (aside from cheese) for the vegetarians in our group. The woman who greeted us upon arrival was pleasant enough, although there were only two other people at the bar and she seated us right next to them. It felt awkward, so we decided to leave. We glanced at the menu on the chalkboard and inquired about vegetarian options. The bartender turned to the cook who simply replied, "I usually have a vegetarian pasta, but tonight it's bolognese." With that, she walked away. Disappointed, we chose to leave. Luckily, we found a fantastic alternative in Davis Square.

UpperWest is my favorite place to sit and enjoy some great food paired with a small but well chosen wine list. Everyone who works here is dedicated to excellent service and hospitality. The environment is funky, warm, and inviting. And the guests gathered around the bar are likely to become friends and acquaintances of yours because of the convivial atmosphere. This is truly a gem of a place!
