Our server was unable to tell me what seafood was included in the chowder so allergy sufferers beware. As we were seated a very large group arrived and the staff seemed overwhelmed for the rest of our stay. I can understand this when it happens at the end of your shift at the end of the day, but it left me wishing we had explored elsewhere.
Great beds, great sleep, excellent dining room. A great place to stay before boarding the Ferry the following day.
I stayed at the hotel and decided to try the restaurant. The service was good and attentive. The menu was decent. The wait for our food was reasonable. The food was okay, but not outstanding. It was convenient, overall it was just okay. I will look for something better next time. If you found this review helpful, please let us know by clicking the like button below. Thank you!
After getting off the ferry we stayed at St. Christopher's Hotel. While we found the room somewhat mediocre it was an issue with the restaurant that caused a problem. We went into the restaurant for dinner and immediately informed the staff about an allergy my wife has to peas and anything in the pea family. This is not a joke or a lie. It is a very serious allergy and if she eats anything in this line she WILL end up in the hospital, if she survives. she ordered her meal, and of course there were peas. It was apparently one of the vegetables of the day and she was told it was a premix. She asked if she could change it for something else, I believe it was sliced tomatoes, again mentioning her allergy. She was told there would be an extra cost. Why should she have to pay more to avoid an allergy and keep herself alive We got up and left and discussed it with 2 women at the front desk, again mentioning the allergy. They would not bend. We left and found another place to eat and checked out early the next morning. It's a good thing for them there is no law against their actions or we would be taking legal action against them. If you or any member of your family, or friends have allergies, not not attempt to eat at this restaurant. You will regret it. If we ever find ourselves in Port Aux Basque again we will not go into this restaurant, not will we stay at the hotel.
After a ferry crossing from North Sydney, and no services on the boat, we chose to have dinner at the hotel. Not spectacular, but it was satisfying.
