Feedback gevenThe coffee was excellent, the food was delicious and well-prepared, and the service was outstanding. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, making us feel like part of the family. All three aspects of the restaurant - the coffee, the food, and the service - were top-notch, making for a fantastic dining experience.
Super caffe, well made eat, sublime coffee and the friendlyest personal homemade tasty and the best scones a must
The restaurant is warm, welcoming, friendly, and efficient, offering delicious homemade pastries such as sausage rolls and quiche. It is tucked away in a quiet location and is well worth a visit. It is the perfect example of how a small café should operate.
Small caffe with beautiful coffee, damp cake, but small selection of choices. welcome, friendly staff. clean toilet.
I always used to love the great selection of salads with yummy dressings at the Fat Birdie lots of choice presented in the display cabinet. Not sure if I was unlucky this visit but there was nothing nothing to see on the salad front....Ordered lamb and rosemary pie and salad for my husband, soup for me and a couple of coffees. Two delicious looking pies were taken out of the warmer and placed in an open cardboard container' my chicken and veggie soup was poured into a paper cup and put in the microwave. Salad consisting of iceberg lettuce, some red onion, tomato and cucumber was placed in another cardboard container and our coffees were duly made. Some ten minutes after ordering as I was about to walk out I was asked if I wanted toasted Turkish bread with my soup. I politely declined when I realised that would need doing from scratch. By then the lamb pies were cold and I really didn't want to wait around for my soup and the coffees to get cold too. I was suddenly given $4 back for not taking the bread and apparently the soup not being a full sized portion. When I got home the pies were tasty but cold. The salad was a shadow of former Fat Birdie glories and undressed. Soup was tasty but I would have made a different or maybe an additional selection if I had been told at the time that it was not a full portion. At least the coffees were good and are probably still up there with the best coffee Capel has to offer. Fat Birdie used to be a great lunch spot for either eat in or takeaway. It could be again with an injection of common sense and organisation. However cutting the menu back to not much more than toasties, not putting together a meal in a sensible order, and not communicating if something is not as expected means I will probably just make lunch at home for a while.
