Also I am currently in the midst of a food crush with the pepperoni pizza. My wife orders the fish and chips. Don't forget the fresh bread and sweet chili sauce. Yep, it's good to be a gangster. Update: sadly this Iggy's has closed. Boo.
Iggys has three huge big screen televisions with several smaller monitors that stream sporting events in the middle of the restaurant over the bar. And heaven and Brigham forbid, there isn 't even a Zion curtain around the large and well stocked bar to protect sensitive Utahns from the evils of a seeing a mixed drink poured by the bartender. The menu is standard pub fare, with lots of fried food and appetizers. If you come her for anything else, you are deceiving yourself. They serve several local beers on tap at $4.50 per pint (yes their pints are a 16 oz pint) and they also have several cocktails in the $7 to $10 range. They also have national beers for a little less and Guiness at a rather pricy $6.95. While watching the U play football, I ordered the lighter fare portion of the fish and chips. Despite having two pieces of halibut rather than the full size portion of three pieces, it was plenty of food for lunch. The fries it came with were tasty and the fish was good too. The side of clam chowder I ordered wasn 't very good, too thick, pasty and flavorless. But, the decent signature Iggy 's Crimson Ale helped wash it down. I only come here to view sporting events and that likely will continue. But when I do, I am usually satisfied with the fare offered, which meets my lower than usual expectations. And the drinks are welcome in our overly dry county. Cheers!
The last remaining Iggy 's around. They have stopped serving bread here with the chili water which I know was a fan favorite. I believe we came during the week so it really wasn 't too busy. There were maybe 3 tables occupied and a couple people at the bar. Chicken ball appetizer was great as usual, but my chicken was seemingly over-cooked and very dry, but wasn 't worth the fuss to complain. Sad Iggy 's have been going under because my family and I have been frequenting them for years. (Since about '06! The service and quality hasn 't been the best like they were in the beginning and our waitress seemed like she was annoyed that she had to serve us, but she did well about making sure we got our correct orders and had everything that we needed so I appreciated that.
Went at about 11:00 at night. Very comfortable place and the service was great! Our server was very nice and on the ball with any questions or requests we had. I ordered the Chile Cheese Burger. At first glance it looked a little dull, and well, that's pretty much what it was. Not bad by any means, but nothing extraordinary. Think of just an average Burger with Chile on it. It was satisfying though. They had about three large screens that were conveniently placed with different football games (and fishing) which was nice. The wait for the food wasn't too long, and watching the biggest games on made it fly by. If your looking for a comfortable place to hang and watch sports, try it out. But if your looking for a place with top notch food, you may want to try somewhere else first.
I hope this location doesn't close! We were so disappointed when the Layton Hills location closed and now the Ogden location at the Junction! They have reduced there menu but still a good selection. They have added weekend brunch! Menu looks good!
