Zentropa now Barrel House Pub and Pizza , same basic set up and employees. Still a good place for drink and foods
Zentropa 's Pizzeria Pub was SOLD and went out of business on January 1, 2017. The premises is currently being refurbished by new owners and will reopen as Barrel House sometime in January 2017.
As a not so recent Eastern grad *weep*, my overdue swing into Cheney filled my heart with frothy nostalgia. Upon recommendation, my equally aging chums found ourselves plopped into the former Cheney movie house turned pizzeria for a pie and some suds. Atmosphere is nice the aged brick archways, ample seating, brew and film decor hung carefully on the ancient walls. There's a need for a thorough dusting, as prehistoric spiderwebs swing to and fro gently against the push of heated air. Our trio ordered the Thai pizza, which I am wont to do. Flavor was mild and good, the crust offering a satisfying crunch, though the dough taste lost a battle to over cooked char. Not my favorite iteration of the style pie, but still enjoyable. The show stealer here were the Wedgies. These small garlic bread bite appetizers came with a pesto cream and marinara dippin' sauce which I largely ignored due to the laser like focus on the superb flavor. Beer selection was well scattered with seasonals, dark and wheat varietals. Only one IPA and pilsner had me scratching my noggin a bit. Look elsewhere if you long for a domestic. I had a decent red blend wine since I'm a gentleman. You can certainly do worse in Cheney. A good place to hang with classmates, bring discerning parents who are trying to find peace in all the money they are spending on schooling, or snuggle up to a textbook whilst sloshing back the beverage the monks gave us. Worth a try!
Great pizza! For a college town, I was a little caught off guard by the price, but if you are looking to splurge a little on some hometown pizza, this isn't a bad place to do it. The staff is kind and it's a very family friendly place!
