Licone - Cogne

As an intro, I would like to make clear that my wife and I have been coming to Cogne for almost 20 years. Sometimes for just a short visit, sometimes for lonher holidays. We know pretty much all the bars and restaurants. We are relaxed people that are aware of local traditions. We have been a regular visitor to bar Licone for 20 years. Used to be 'Rochy and Joe 's ', run by nice ladies. Couple of years ago became a pizzeria with new people, Nothing wrong with that. Went to have a prosecco last week right after our arrival from Belgium. Had to wait long to be served, local people arriving after us having their drinks almost immediately , we waiting patiently. Terrace was full so no issue with it. The day after, we went there for late lunch after a hike. Took a seat, told the waitress we wanted to eat. She would arrive shortly after to take our order. Never saw her again at our table, even though she saw me giving a sign several times. Same scenario as the day before: locals arriving wanting to eat, locals having drinks before we even had the chance to give our order. After 20 minutes of waiting (with two thirsty kids of 2 and 8), we went off. Went inside to explain my disappointment. Other staff looked somewhat surprised, waitress concerned did not. Clearly knew what she was up to. Whether or not we had the bad luck of encountering the wrong waitress, we don 't now. If it 's the new policy at Licone 's to serve locals first, I don 't know. But leaving thirsty and hungry kids waiting is a bridge too far as far as I am concerned. Pityfull place that will never see us again. Hence the very bad rating.

We came here to have a simple dinner. After too much typical Valdostana food we decided for pizza. It was a busy night and every table was taken. In spite of this the waitress managed everything with a smile and without any undue waiting. Together with our prosecco also came a plate of cured meats and grissini very generous. The pizza was nicely baked, good size and really tasty. Probably wouldn't go for the salad again as it wasn't very imaginative. But then it doesn't pretend to be a smart restaurant. Some confusion happened with the wine we ordered and a different bottle arrived. We didn't dislike the bottle that came so we decided not to make a fuss and only mentioned it at the end when it came to paying the bill. Both the waitress and bar manager were hugely apologetic and very generously didn't charge us for the bottle. This was by far more than we had expected. Mistakes can happen anywhere but it's the recovery that really matters. If you want a tasty pizza or some simple fare in lively atmosphere this is a great place. I would suggest sitting outside as the view over the old buildings is really nice.

I hate to be the one who talk a place down (when everyone else seems satisfied), but this place is unfortunately not good. Probably because there are too few waiters and chefs compared with the amount of tables (because the waiters worked instantly). I waited 20 minutes to get a menu, another 20 for someone to receive my order and at last 40 minutes before i got my pizza. Receiving the pizza (with salsiccia), the dough was raw in the middle and the white sauce turned pink of grease from the poorly cut sausage. If you appreciate good service, reasonable waiting time for your orders and food to appreciate, this is not the place to go.

Un pranzo buono e veloce nella bellissima Cogne. Ottimo risotto alla crema di funghi porcini . Servizio veloce e personale gentile

Siamo stati per una pizza veloce e ci siamo trovati veramente bene. Servizio gentile e rapido, pizza molto buona. Siano stati con due cagnolini ben accolti anche se non hanno portato acqua. Per questo metto 4 stelle invece di 5.
