It seemed like most of the attention was on takeout orders, to the detriment of the dine-in customers. Even when we tried to order drinks, the wait staff seemed more focused on takeout orders. Overall, the food was wonderful, but the service definitely needs work.
I usually recommend the food at this restaurant, but not tonight. The portion sizes were very disappointing (see picture of our salad below). Normally, we love the Madras dish, but it was too tangy tonight. Despite this, we will be back out of loyalty and hope that the food will be back to its usual standard.
I hadn't visited this restaurant in a while, so I was very happy to have another fantastic evening meal with my friends. We were seated at a great circular table, perfect for socializing. The menu had plenty of options to choose from and the staff were very accommodating for people with allergies. The friendly and helpful staff made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal.
Picked up a takeaway a couple of hours ago at a cost of in excess of £33. Commenced our meal with starters extremely dry chicken tikka and very small puree to go with bhuna prawn. Everything about both dishes was tasteless even the salad and the attempt of mint yoghurt?!! Then onto main courses these were even worse and reminded us of a very poor leftover Sunday dinner trying to disguise itself as a bad curry. Both main courses, one beef one chicken, consisted of cabbage (mainly stalks), green beans (overcooked) and a good handful of peas and sweetcorn together with carrots.?? There were 4 small pieces of chicken and 3 small pieces of lamb in the dishes. Is this really Indian food? A side balti dish was made up of the same vegetables as above but without the meat. Bombay potato side dish was undercooked and had no taste whatsoever. Rice was rice without any flavour so may as well have been boiled rice. 2 naan breads were dry, tasteless and the garlic naan appeared to have been nowhere near garlic. We tried hard to look for a redeeming feature in the meal having spent over £30 but we couldn't. Needless to say we won't be back and would recommend you don't bother wasting your money. By far the worst indian meal we've ever had. There are others in the same street and I would highly recommend you try them.
Ordered a takeaway for 7 having been a regular at the restaurant for many many years. Can’t fault the food, staff or service. Mr Khan the manager is always happy to see us and greets us with a handshake on arrival. On one occasion the starter was a bit slow and they were apologetic and explained reason for the delay. Food was however as always well worth waiting for. By far the best Indian in Durham.
