Block House Cafe - Dayton

This restaurant deserves a perfect score of 10 for both food and atmosphere. It truly embodies the spirit of the Dayton community. Every time I visit, I'm greeted by familiar faces and new friends, which only enhances the experience. If you stop by, be sure to ask for Beth—she's a gem! With her warm smile and welcoming demeanor, she goes above and beyond to ensure you enjoy every moment. Don't hesitate to explore the menu; trying something new could lead to discovering your next favorite dish!

I highly recommend Block House for breakfast! The cinnamon roll pancake is amazing—it's huge, like the size of a plate, and perfect for sharing. The eggs Benedict are also fantastic, and the biscuits and gravy and speck are worth trying too. The atmosphere is great and the place is very clean. The service was always friendly! I do wish they had more staff, as there were times when only one or two servers were handling the entire packed restaurant. This sometimes led to longer wait times and missed food or drink orders. However, it's definitely a great spot to stop by before heading to the coast or going on a hike!

This is the best brunch spot I've ever visited! The Bloody Mary is fantastic, with delicious, crispy bacon and the most flavorful celery you could imagine. The cookies are perfect on their own, but if you want, you can pair them with the best jam or indulge in their cookies and gravy. The scrambled eggs are heavenly, and the pepper bacon is a must-try. The cinnamon pancakes are to die for as well. Honestly, the scrambled eggs are loaded with flavor and so good that I can't even remember everything I had. This is truly the world’s best brunch! Beth, our server, was incredibly sweet and even refilled our coffee while we waited. Trust me, the wait is absolutely worth it. This is the best brunch spot in Portland—though they serve lunch too, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to resist those cookies!

Small and secret. The food is great and the servers are very friendly. It felt like the staff was something new, but they still took care of the service. Would go back. Try the raspberry French toast or the cinnamon roll pancake soooo well! Oh, and the strawberry limonade was perfect!

As always, Block House never fails! Always great food, great staff and a wonderful atmosphere. The cinnamon roll pancakes are a must have, and the chicken fried steak is another great go-to item. Keep up the amazing work guys! We will be back soon! :
