Grâce is the name of the charming chef proprietor and she hails from Portugal. Otherwise, this simple but cosy bistro in the rue Jeannin is known as Le Bistro Bourguignon. Set lunch is a steal at 13€50 and if you look hungry and Grâce likes the look of you you might get some extras. For lunch we had the specials which consisted of a salade campagnarde to start, with bacon lardons and eggs, and then two of us had the very tender osso bucco and the other two the traditional salt cod (morue). Pudding was a traditional Portuguese sponge cake reminiscent of tiramisu. Don't expect any refinements, just tasty food in a convivial atmosphere with a friendly chef possessed of a sense of humour.
We needed a late lunch so we headed down rue Jennin in Dijon. There were several smal Cafe's In the area and we chose Chez Grace. This one had the most folks that looked like locals so we hoped the meal was going to be a good one. It was the first meal I had in 3 weeks that I cleaned my plate. The added plus was the delightful woman that charmed us with colorful banter as we ate. My sauce was so good on my chicken that I was given a small extra bowl of it to finish cleaning my plate.
Wonderful wine and dining experience in the heart of DijonSimple affordable fair presented elegantly by a friendly and informative staff.
