Salmon Inn - Donegal

I have visited this restaurant reasonably regularly over the last few years and it is a favourite. The welcome is always friendly and the decor is traditional. The view out over the bay is really great and its a brilliant place to watch a nice sunset. The food is always good. I had the mussels in sweet chilli to start. The portion was huge and the sauce/cooking liquor was so tasty. I would highly recommend this starter. For mains I had hake with prawns and mashed potatoes all washed down with a nice house chardonnay. I look forward to returning again.

Really enjoyed our visit. Given a warm welcome by the proprietor and her young staff members. Really enjoyed the sea food and would highly recommend a visit. Try to visit towards sunset. It added something special to our meal. Ate in the large airy conservatory space with good social distancing between tables.

We stayed in Donegal Town last week for a few days and heard of The Salmon Inn through word of mouth and so glad we did. This restaurant is situated right on the edge of Donegal Bay. We had a wonderful evening, friendly staff, excellent service, the food was gorgeous, the wine a treat and to top it all off..... we witnessed a beautiful sunset as we sat outside sipping a few beers. Magical.

Good service, excellent food: fresh fish- hake and mussels. Definately would recommend for food lovers.

This dinner was our first family outing since before lockdown. My husband and I had my retired parents and our two children with us. We were anxious about going out, wondering if we would feel safe. We shouldn't have worried! All staff wore visors, hand sanitizer was placed in the entrance, tables are well spaced and the place is spotlessly clean. The staff were lovely, we all felt very welcome. Dinner was just lovely, lots of it, hot, well presented, great menu with something for everyone. The fish was so fresh and perfectly cooked. Also, the setting is idyllic, wonderful view from the dining room. Good prices, lovely experience, we were so happy we went for two consecutive nights!
