The room was basic to say the least no Acc no ceiling fan no TV just a double bed and ensuite. Our room was over looking the beer garden witch was fine until bed time as we were both tired we wanted a reasonable early night 9.30pm , unfortunately the noise from the beer garden was excessive, you would have thought that the crowd was in the room. So no sleep ! and to top it off a brawl broke out about 12.30am screaming and yelling the works, we did manage to get to sleep around 1am.My advise would be don't stay !but if you do, go to the bar drink copious amounts of alcohol until you reach a comer and then you can be carried you up to your room.We did not eat at the restaurant so l can not review.
Went here for mothers day, food was **** awesome, service was excellent, drinks were cold. A perfect day with the piranha.. Haha
Evans Head is a small seaside holiday village but huge during the holidays. There are few places to enjoy a meal. The only hotel, the Illawong, has a restaurant now called The Break which serves OK sea foods and Pizzas. But their prices are city prices and I would expect quality to match. But no, instead of sourcing their ingredients from fresh suppliers and making their own bases as one would expect, everything seems to come from the local IGA! For $25 a pizza, instead of $17 that I pay in Melbourne, I would expect much better. Methinks, a bit of a - lets rip off the tourist mentality!
Ate here one evening. A good meal at a good price promptly served by friendly staff. You can eat indoors or out. We were staying in Evans Head for just one night, or we would have eaten here again. Just across from the caravan/camping site.
Ate at the restaurant last night as the sign said under new management and the restaurant andBeer garden had been refurbished since the last time we were in Evans Head. We can thoroughlyRecommend the restaurant. I had steak which was tender and tasty and my husband had crumbed whiting which he said was delicious. Other diners around us were satisfied with their choices as well. They have seafood and pasta as well as pizza and blackboard specials all reasonably priced I thought. We will be back as it is very handy to the caravan park. They also have live music Sunday lunch.
