We came on Friday evening and grabbed a table before it got busy! And oh my, XLB was a hit! The skin was thin although not quite thin as Din Ding , but the inside was so flavorful and juicy. We pretty much ordered 2 of each flavor to try. They had a lot of variety and combinations of stuffing, but you can boil it down to three types plain pork, crab oil and garlic. I especially loved the ones with fish roe inside, the crunchiness gave XLB a nice texture combined with umami broth. Poseidon, queen crab and Pegasus were amazing! Garlic was a bit too overwhelming for me, but the first bite you take will blow your mind. Paired with crawfish, such as in Bewbee was quite phenomenal. I wasn't a bit fan of the pan fried one, Dragon Ball, as XLB was too oily for me given the rich broth inside and oil on the bottom. Capricorn, made with lamb and Godmother, spicy were both interesting. Liked the spicy one better, tasted like MaLaTang! Once it Gets busy, it takes a while for XLB to be served so order at the beginning of the meal!
Just finished dinner here and had such an enjoyable time. You order through the app which is an experience I love plenty of time and you can easily add more to your order if you want to. We got the...shoot, a root beer float like drink that was really unique and fun. Two of us shared probably too much food but how to pick?? My fav dishes were the godmother and the Sichuan noodles. We also treated ourselves to to the ones I can't remember but that are made with crawfish and garlicky, served with lemon, and the ones that are machine made. The handmade dumplings are clearly so much more delish than machine made but you can get more for less with the machine ones so it was a nice add to the table to keep us fed without spending a bunch more. Would defffffff come back!
This place is so good! Came here after seeing foodiswhyimbroke's Instagram where she recommended this place. Definitely the best most flavorful XLBs I've had in the Bay Area. We ordered a variety of dishes and my husband then doubled up at the end on the Newbee. Frieza XLB 7pcs Good amount of soup great with the sake vinegar Pork Shrimp Dragon Ball 4pcs super crispy on the bottom, the crispy texture the soup was really good Newbee XLB 2pcs hands down favorite, super flavorful and garlicky and the hit of the lemon squeeze was such a perfect pairing Queen Crab XLB 2pcs also super good but I had it after the Newbee and it was overshadowed Godmother XLB 2pcs numbing spice and definitely has a kick, also has a good amount of spicy soup Chopped Cucumber I got this without cilantro and it was good, though I don't think it's worth the 7.99. It's more savory vs sweet which I think a lot of other dumpling places have a more sweet vinegary cucumber Service was fast and the two workers were so nice. They mentioned they were hit pretty hard during covid but I'm so glad they powered through! Definitely coming back.
Stopped by a few weeks ago! I've heard of this place but never came. I just know that there were some Yelp fights on this place and supposed employees of DTF don't worry lol, I come in peace, I honestly think DTF Is overpriced meh . But I typically hold all XLB's to Din Ding as the golden standard. I love that place. As for this place, pretty yummy. The filling in everything I ate was very flavorful, and I like the vinegar they provide. We ordered some dragon balls and pork XLB. I'd come back if I was in the area and craving XLB. It was pretty empty that Friday during lunch, I'm not sure how packed this place gets. There's a surprisingly low number of reviews for this place though. I would think it would be more popular. It's a quicker drive than Din Ding at least. Service was friendly. We had to wait extra as the chef had to run to the store to pick up some ingredients, but we had no problem waiting. They gave us complimentary chocolate XLB for our patience! My only gripe is that it seems everything is just a tad bit expensive. Their menu has everything in small orders but you're pretty much paying 4 for 2 or 8 for 4 dumplings, or more. I'm about to write a review for dough zone too, which was 8 for 6 XLB .
