Even the coffee cup was cold and handle was hard to hold as cold .. food was warm but not hot due to plates being cold . Felt so bad for the waitresses . They mentioned they were having a problem with the exhaust but that was awful . Didn’t even realize we were overcharged for the meal because it was so cold and we’re in a rush to leave :
The restaurant is located in the same building as Harveys, a burger place. I couldn't quite recall the name at the time. The establishment was exceptionally clean and the staff were welcoming. Guests have the option to order wine or beer while dining on the Swiss Chalet side.
Recently, my wife and I were travelling across NL and stopped in to this location to have supper. When we entered the business, there were a number of patrons already eating so due to distancing they advised us we would eat on the other side of the restaurant, which we we perfectly fine with. However, once we were seated we both felt like we were going to have a very uncomfortable supper. It was freezing in the seating area. We asked if the cooling system could be turned off and our server said she would ask. When she returned we were told it was already off. It could not have been much more than 15 degrees Celsius in the area and ordering hot food would only be very disappointing. We advised our server we would not stay and we went elsewhere. I hope this has not been the same for other patrons.
We were surprised to find so few people in the restaurant even though it was about 6 pm. The staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming the meal wasn't quite as good as we have had before at other Swiss Chalet restaurants. The staff were busy cleaning the floor and tidying up.
The food was just ok. Fries were cold and the service was ok. Would I recommend it, probably not but we did not know of any other good restaurants in the area.
