This address between Grasse and Antibes offers an excellent table and selection of wines in a pleasant atmosphere with views over the surrounding region. The restaurant is a little expensive, but fully justified by the quality.
We started off our dinner with three lovely starters. The food was fresh, tasty and well prepared. When the three mains arrived, they both tasted and looked good. Until, we saw a moving, living, and transparent 2 inch worm in the smoked salmon. We physically had to pull the worm out of the flesh of the fish, and we were mildly said, very disgusted. After noticing the animal, we asked the staff about it, and they simply said it had fallen down from the tree above us. This was a lie, as we had pulled it out of the fish ourselves. Following this, the chef came out and showed us a piece of fish and claimed the worm was "natural" and wondered what they should do about it, and why we were making a fuss. This is not the sort of treatment you expect when you dine at a expensive, high end restaurant. We were charged full amount on the dish. Safe to say we will not be coming back!
The restaurant is located between four golf clubs, which can be seen from the restaurant's high terrace. A pleasant place for rest and dinner, from the windows of the hall are visible bizarre local trees, the interior is made in white and olive tones. Chef Emmanuel Rus works only with the freshest ingredients and prepares Provençal cuisine for local producers.
Accompanied by wife and daughter-in-law, decided to give this restaurant a try on a mild day in March. Restaurant was very quiet - one festive table of 7 on a tasting menu and our table for three. We were not celebrating anything so it was just a “normal” lunch. I was a little wary of the €24 menu for 2 plates (starter/main or main/dessert) including a “boisson chaude”. There was actually no choice for the €24 Menu … starter was a soup/veloute asparagus with a cooked egg in the middle and mains was rabbit with gnocchi. Dessert was creme brulee lavande. As we are, all three, good non-fussy eaters we all had no problem with the “choices”. This may not be the case for everyone, so be warned!Starters and mains were, by unanimous consent, delicious. We decided to share two a la carte desserts … baked apple tart (€12) with a 20 minute wait which was no problem as it gave us time to enjoy the amazing views from the dining room and a Fougassienne a partager (€14), - a bit like a Tropezienne - which was cut up for us for sharing and which we greedily devoured. We drank a slightly overpriced €39 Provence red, but there were cheaper wines on the list, including a couple of Rosés at under €30.Coffees included in the €24 fixed menu, helped keep the total bill to a “fair” €140 for three, what was a substantial lunch. Waitress (owner?) was very helpful and pleasant. So, a good meal at a reasonable price helped by non-fussy eaters.
