I decided to try this restaurant for the first time because my usual cafe was too far away on the other end of Eltham. I was greeted warmly and found the cafe to be clean and spacious. I ordered a jacket potato with ocean mix and was very impressed. The potato was properly oven-baked with a crispy skin, and it was generously filled and served with a fresh side salad. It was the best jacket potato I have had at a cafe. I enjoyed it with a cup of tea. The staff were friendly and the menu had a lot of options to choose from. If I find myself in that area of Eltham again, I would definitely visit this restaurant.
As a counselor, along with my two friends who are also counselors, we wanted to have a private discussion about some counseling issues. Arriving at the restaurant around 2:30 was perfect timing as it was emptying out from the lunch rush, so we had no trouble getting a table. The menu had a great selection to satisfy all appetites and tastes, and everything we ordered was delicious with generous portions and presented nicely. However, there was a shift change towards the end of our meal and the new staff seemed less attentive. They didn't clear our table or offer us dessert menus, so we had to ask for them ourselves. Despite this, the food was still good, even though my first choice was unavailable without an apology. We also had to ask for the bill and for someone to come over to take our payment. Overall, I would still be willing to visit again despite the minor issues.
Another local cafe I use was closed for a birthday party so I gave it another go for breakfast. Found it overpriced for poor quality food and staff that were not exactly dynamic. Be a long time before I go again. More like a old fashioned transport cafe but not prices to match.
The café had so many tables close together in a narrow area. Every time somebody had to pass you had to move. The waiting staff was good so was the food quality, however the way it had been reheated was not. My mash potatoes had been flattened into a pancake shape and seemed like it had been put on hot plate or grill. The liver was great. My wife's pie again was good but seemed that it had been heated in such away as to leave the pastry soggy. Sorry a pleasant place but the competition in Eltham is better.
