Alpina - Grindelwald

Family hotel. very friendly owners. very close to the railway station. booked 2 rooms for the family of 4. we checked at night and woke up to the breathtaking view of the snow-covered mountains! the croissants were a favorite family during the breakfast. December 2019

Positiw: great view; large, clean room; excellent breakfast; near train station. problem: zigarettenrauch. this hotel allows smoking on the balconies and each room has a balcony. during the cold weather it is not a problem, but in a warm magic (the rooms have no air conditioning they will get much cigarette smoke in their room when they open the windows in the morning or evening when the guests are present. smoking on the balcony is a rule of the hotels: I had no idea that it was allowed in the hotel alpina when I had booked the room. later I found some hotels in grindelwald that forbid smoking on balconies (like the big hotel starts with b . but alpina hotel has opted for smoking. this is not a problem in cities such as genf, bern or zürich, where most hotels have no balcony, so that the smoker guests know that they need to smoke in a special room or in free. but in grindelwald there is a city rule that all hotels must use the Swiss chalet design including balconies, so it is a problem. I suggest that the alpina hotel does not accept smoking on balcony rule, like some other hotels in grindelwald. they will not lose customers: all smokers are used to hotels that have no balcony and allow smoking nowhere.

Als Gäste des Hotels von nebenan, Hotel Caprice, durften wir im Alpina Restaurant speisen. Das Essen war wirklich hervorragend zubereitet! Aus ausschliesslich frische Zutaten wurden wunderbar aromatische Gaumenfreuden gezaubert. Das Auge isst mit: auch präsentiert war alles sehr schön, die Portionen recht gross und der Preis erstaunlich. Wir würden sofort wieder kommen. Service war auch top!

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Zeit im Alpina. Schöne Zimmer, super Essen und vor allem herzliche Mitarbeiter. Man fühlt sich sofort wohl
