The next stop on my Guelph cafe tour is Planet Bean Coffee. This chain has had quite a bit of success in Guelph with multiple locations so I was excited to visit. The specs:this location seats about 50, there are electrical power outlets, WiFi tested at 46/29 (pretty good for Guelph). The location is quite spacious with about 7 tables for 4 people. Coffee is Fairtrade, organic and roasted by Planet Bean. Espresso was too bitter for my liking. Carrot cake hit the spot. Service was alright. The decor is a dated 90s look. Overall, I'd score it a 3.5. I like the setup and support their use of Fairtrade /organic so I will be coming back!
Great coffee made with fair trade beans by fabulous people in a good location. There you go. It's a good place to work. They have delicious snacks (the nuttah bars and sourdough cinnamon rolls, especially) and sell beans and brewing accessories, too.
Really fantastic service! I ordered the cascara but they were out of soda water so they offered me tonic water however it was extremely bitter for me but they were very kind in giving me a token for a free drink as well as remade it with lemonade to make it taste great.
In my opinion, this is the only place in town worth going for a latte or an americano. They give a **** about the product they put across the counter, and what's more, they know what they're doing. They roast their own beans and sell a great variety in the store as well. Prices are excellent, coffee is delicious (if you sit in, you get a free refill! , employees are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is warm (complete with WiFi . They also do latte art! They made one with a heart in it for me to surprise my boyfriend with : If you like coffee and live in Guelph, there's really no excuse for not having been here yet.
