We stopped at this restaurant for one night during a weekend motorcycle trip. It was a recommended stop on "The Highland Loop" website.
I was very disappointed when I brought my staff and directors here about 10 years ago. The restaurant was beautiful.
I have great memories of the Pinestone Inn shortly after it opened so my husband and I decided to treat ourselves to lunch in the restaurant after a hard days work at the cottage. We entered the restaurant and sat with a pleasant view of the pool. There was only one other couple dining and it was not until after we had ordered that I overheard them complaining about how bland and tasteless that their food had been. The bar restaurant was in desperate need of vacuuming with crumbs all over the carpet, including under our table and croutons on the windowsill beside us.When I mentioned the filth to the waitress on my way out she did not apologize but stated " I know, we are not allowed to vacuum when there are any customers in the restaurant. The two young waitresses talked together and were on the phone most of the time, did not offer to refill our water and one coughed frequently without covering her mouth. I hoped fervently that the kitchen was cleaner than the restaurant.I ordered a salad Nicoise which was passable though I had not recalled that this salad apparently contains no lettuce or leafy greens of any sort.My husband ordered a burger and fries and the most positive thing I can say about this overpriced bar meal in dirty surroundings is that we did not get sick!Ruth SOttawa
As we stayed in the hotel, we had three meals in this restaurant. For the two dinners, I ordered mussels that were not bad. However, my husband ordered the baked salmon with rice for the second evening, that was not good. I did not try the salmon, but the rice was the worse rice I had ever had.The dinner experience was not the worst. We had buffet breakfast (there's no a-la-carte breakfast). They put expired yoghurt on the buffet table. We were there on July 3, and some of the yoghurts expired on July 2 and some expired in mid June! We told the waitress about the expired yoghurt. She just took ours away casually. We went out to the buffet table again to look for one without expired, but we could find one. It did not seem that they intended to take away the expired yoghurt.
