El Azteca - Hampton

2nd time in the restaurant and it had the same old musty smell to it, like the smell of old grease. Very disappointed, my first time getting their chicken taco salad and was excited but when I started mixing the food, I noticed the chicken looked grayish and had a funny smell. I usually eat my salad from top first and the tortillas. It had me worried so I couldn?t even finish the rest. Seeing the gray chicken made my stomach feel queasy. The server was kind but my Carne asada tasted very off... the steak was chewy and tough, not seasoned and had a funky taste like the meat had gone bad and they cooked it anyway.. I have no clue what others are talking about good food coming from this place. The guacamole and salsa are both store bought and low quality. I can make better Mexican food at home myself for much cheaper and I will at least know I'm not being poisoned by bad steak.

This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. I didn't expect such a nice place in a shopping strip. The service was excellent, the food was good, and it has great atmosphere. I will definitely go back.

This has been my go to for the last 16 years...not one disappointment yet. I have an onion allergy and they are always caring about it. My food is ALWAYS safe to eat. The staff has changed up over the years but, the kindness and welcoming atmosphere is still the same. Family outing or a good stiff drink with friends after work...this is the place.

Upon entry this place hits all the marks on authentic Mexican decor. Velvet paintings, paper maché hanging vegetables, to even some Vicente Fernandez playing. Servers were prompt and friendly. Sadly the food didn't deliver, and I say this as someone who grew up by Mexico. The guacamole was more like an avocado crema and the enchiladas only came in beef and chicken for the combo platter. And the chips weren't even served hot. Overall for the area it's not bad and maybe I need to try something else, but as of now not authentic mexican.
