The ube scones are a must-have and always accompany me to the beach. The flavors at this bakery truly rank among my favorites.
This is the best bakery I've ever been to! Jill, the owner and baker, is amazing, and her delicious baked goods are truly outstanding. My absolute favorite is her ube chocolate banana bread—it's the best on the island! I've tried other places that try to make it, but they just don't compare. The only downside is the very limited street parking; otherwise, you'll need to pay for parking in the nearby municipal lots. However, it’s absolutely worth it to enjoy her fantastic treats!
This charming little bakery in Kaimuki, right next to Sconees, offers a delightful selection of ube treats and other desserts. I tried the ube scone and the ube butter mochi. The scone was delightful—sweet and topped with a sugary glaze. I also enjoyed the butter mochi; although it was served cold and lacked the usual crisp texture on top, its flavor was absolutely spot on!
Friends have told me about Chocolate Vanilla for ages. It 's amazing! So ono! Drooling at the nomz! I figured that I 'd eventually get around to it and was delighted to stumble upon the storefront. Service was quick, efficient, and the salesperson was very nice. Since the place is small, it 's probably best to wait outside if another patron is ordering inside. Someone came in while I was there and it felt like a tighter squeeze.Although I considered buying more, I 'd already indulged on cake, mochi and coco puffs the day before. A bigger motivation for not getting other goodies was because I just came from a dental appointment not even thirty minutes prior. If it wasn 't for those two factors, I know that I would 've walked out with a box full of pastries.I was catching a flight that day so I forgot to try my pandan bread pudding before departing to the airport. My loss was my grandmother 's gain. She told me that it was 美味しい, delicious in Japanese. My mother told me that grandma indulged so much that she lost her appetite for breakfast AND for her afternoon snack! Since my grandma adores her senbei snack time, the bread pudding must have hit the spot. I hope to try it next time.
The only thing that's basic is the name of this bakery...Chocolate Vanilla is on 12th Ave in Kaimuki and nothing screams at you to say this is it...you just know it's the thing! What thing you say...? Bread Pudding, Butter Mochi, Scones, Brownies, Banana Bread and yup Creme Brûlée! Hmmm basic!? How about Blueberry Cream Cheese Bread Pudding, Almond Cookie Scone, Pandan Azuki Bread Pudding, Strawberry Scones, Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding, Taro Sweet Bread Pudding, Ube Banana Bread w/Choc Chips, Ube Butter Mochi just to name a few that they had this day I stopped by.Today I picked up some Ube Banana Bread, Ube Butter Mochi and Almond Cookie Scones, these are all going to my holiday sweet treat pack to friends, and following them on Instagram @chocolateandvanilla808 is a must as they constantly reinventing themselves going savory and off the menu.Don't forget to grab a drink as well either a Coffee Jelly, Butterfly Pea Lemonade, or how about some Clam Chowder! I would've grabbed their Ube and Vanilla soft serve swirl but I just came from their neighbor Via Gelato so ube I'll be back for that another day.Thank you!
