The strawberry ice cream in the Crackseed Delight tasted like something you'd find in a grocery store. I'm not sure why they call it "crackseed" because the only other ingredients besides the ice cream were a lot of whipped cream and some salty, seaweed-flavored Asian crackers that didn’t compliment the dish at all. The flavors just didn’t mesh well together. Many flavors were sold out, leaving only basic, unremarkable options. I was really looking forward to this place because of its 4.5-star rating on Google, hoping for a hidden gem that offers quality food in a food truck or stand setting, but I was left very disappointed. The location felt run-down, and the ice cream was overpriced for something that wasn’t special at all. I could easily replicate the experience at home with grocery store ice cream and crackers, and I definitely wouldn’t spend $9 for a cup. I recommend trying somewhere like Matcha Stand Maiko, where you can enjoy amazing, authentic-shaved ice soft serve for a lower price. That place is the real deal, truly impressive! Even the name "Double Fat" caught my attention, but unfortunately, it turned out to be just cheap ice cream thrown together with mismatched toppings. I really wish it had lived up to my expectations!
Once you finally locate it, I recommend skipping it and heading somewhere else! The ice cream was old and had an icy, crystallized texture—possibly over-churned, but definitely not pleasant. I was also taken aback by the price for just two small scoops of subpar ice cream! Additionally, the woman working there was rude and unwelcoming.
Tried going there today to try there ice cream that seems to get mixed reviews. Yelp says they open at 5pm and we showed up at 6pm. No one was around except for the guy running the italian food truck next door. Guess we will try again sometime. Roll the dice.
Was looking for an alternative to the expensive Häagen-Dazs on Kalakaua, and this I've cream truck right around the corner did not disappoint. The location is a little shady at night up the ramp in the parking lot on the side street, but it is well lit with a seating area. Ice cream was awesome, and topping were made fresh. The waikiki sunrise and crack seed delight were perfect.
